Delta Variant Reality Check
As my fair city rolls out new mask mandates and people, vaccinated or not, are fearful again let’s look at what we can learn so far from publicly available data about the much discussed (and feared) Delta variant.
In the state where I live, Georgia, we are seeing an uptick in cases. According to this article Georgia has been labelled a hot spot for Delta. So I am assuming that most of the new cases are Delta.
What does this mean for Georgia as mask mandates begin to be rolled out in many municipalities per CDC recommendations? Where can we look to see what our experience might be like? Let’s start by looking to see where Delta is most common in the world.
From the above source we can see that the best place to look is the UK. So let’s look at the surge they recently have been seeing in Covid19-Delta cases. Below is their new case data for the past year. As you can see their worst wave of Covid19 peaked around January 3rd 2021.
